FLU VACCINATION – ONE ARM OF A HEALTHY WORKFORCE


sneeze.pngWith the influenza season coming up, many businesses are implementing a vaccination programme for their workforce, and increasingly these are part of the developing interest in overall company Health and Wellbeing programmes.

There is of course an important financial rationale behind the annual Flu vaccination programme.  Absenteeism from work due to influenza has been estimated to cost Australian businesses more than $2.5 billion.  In a severe outbreak it can have a significant financial impact on an individual business.

WHA – Telstra Business of the year finalist.


WHA was nominated for the 2008 Telstra business of the year in which it reached the finals – a great effort!!. Reaching the finals reflects the hard work and dedication of the entire team across Australia. WHA is still a young company going places at a rapid rate of knots that has already achieved so much to be proud. 2009 will see more big things at WHA along with website functionality improvements and new locations opening around Australia. The eventual winner of the Telstra business awards was the Bruny Island cruises - congratulations.
 

Take your BMI with a grain of salt.


A lot of health assessments utilize the national BMI (Body Mass Index) to determine if a person is over weight and in a higher risk category for certain diseases as well as more vulnerable to injury. What the BMI does NOT do is take into account extra muscle bulk. WHA utilizes a range of strength testing devices to better ascertain someone’s healthy condition. This being said less weight is less impact on bones and joints. Another scale used (as a general rule of thumb) is the waist to hip ratio. Here is how it works:
