Health and Wellness
Leading organisations recognise the simple maxim that “a healthy employee is a more productive employee” and can see the “bottom line” value from investing in employee health and wellness.
They also recognise the reality of having to work in a competitive environment where it is not easy to attract the highest quality staff, employee that are not just focused on remuneration but rather on the whole of life benefits. Companies are responding to these challenges by introducing other benefits like corporate gymnasiums, wellness programs, subsidised healthy food in the staff cafeteria, reduced insurance premiums of healthy staff and even paying cash incentives for staff to give up smoking and lower their cholesterol levels.
While there is undoubtedly this growing awareness of the value of programs such as these which aim to deliver a holistic solution and life balance, responsible managers want to ensure that the corporate dollar is being used wisely and particularly where the benefits often appear intangible.
While there are many other advantages in conducting ongoing health evaluations and good health and lifestyle coaching for employees, many programs today lack the practical aptitude to show real substance and value for the dollars spent.
Results oriented companies are adopting measurement strategies that allow them to monitor health and wellness outcomes and regular health assessments are one way of gaining some empirical data around these programs.
Workplace Health Assessments (WHA) aims to deliver workforce wellness programs that will look at key areas of importance for both individuals and the employer with actual traceable performance over time.
WHA utilises the skills of senior health professionals, respected speakers and other highly trained professionals to deliver these programs.
These programs assist with reducing risk of injury and illness, not only at work but every day life and also help to provide for a healthier happier more productive individual. These programs will include a sound level of feed back and coaching to enhance the importance of a healthy well balanced life style and to outline the obvious benefits for individuals as well as organisations.
The Programs can include:
- Physical and general health assessment
- Feed Back and Planning to address areas of concern (individual)
- Feed Back and Planning to address areas of concern (Company overview)
- Participation in either fitness or recreational programs
- Real time employee and corporate performance management and feedback
- Life style and nutrition coaching in conjunction with motivational seminars (also covers stress management) – these seminars can be conducted over a healthy breakfast to show staff what is a good sound healthy breakfast.
- Ongoing motivational newsletters
- Re assessment and evaluation of program (3 or 6 months recommended).
The Goals:
- Baseline where an organisations workforces physical attributes are today.
- Through a range of positive programs and seminars help individuals improve lifestyle, health and fitness.
- Motivate over time to help employees stay on track
- Re-assess to monitor the improvement in Lifestyle/Health and Fitness.
